Named in honor of the 41st World Cup of Golf (which it hosted in 1995) this critically acclaimed course was designed by 18 major winner, Jack Nicklaus. It was the first course in Asia to be accredited by the US PGA for major professional competitions. It has won multiple international awards and been heralded by US Links magazine as "one of the 10 most significant and influential courses of the past 20 years". Mission Hills' World Cup course is widely hailed as one of Asia's best golfing experiences.
Majestic vistas of untouched jungle and natural flowing streams create outstanding backdrops throughout the golf course. The signature square tees, along with undulating concave paspalum fairways are two distinguishing features of this true championship course. Sand bunkers contain numerous contoured fingers, thick grassy vertical lips and deep "bowled" bottoms, which are sure to attract the attention of golfers as each shot is played. The course boasts 155 bunkers (including 24 on the 15th hole alone!). The Olazabal Course hosted the 2007 & 2008 Omega World Cup – often referred to as “the Olympics of Golf”.
Greg Norman built a reputation designing challenging golf courses wrought in the traditional stylings of his beloved Melbourne Sandbelt. His 7228 yard offering at Mission Hills follows suit - narrow fairways surrounded by long native grasses and dense forest vegetation contribute to the layout's reputation as one of the most difficult courses in Asia. The front nine meanders through dramatic mountain ridges and hillsides while the back nine lays gingerly in one of the property's many lush valleys.
The theme of the Els Course is to create a lush backdrop of dense tree growth juxtaposed against wide swaths of manicured turf. This evokes a "maintained garden" aesthetic reminiscent of Els' South African homeland. The course follows a unique "core" layout where no two holes run parallel. The signature 4th hole features a tee box atop the highest point on the course. This provides golfers with panoramic views of the club and the surrounding region.
The Faldo Course is Asia's first "stadium course" and features the region's only island green at the par 3, 16th. The course is highlighted by mounding and earthen amphitheatres to improve the spectator experience. Opened in early 1999 to great critical acclaim from the international media, the Faldo Course is destined to become Asia's premier tournament venue. Nick Faldo has used his outstanding shot-making skills to design an extremely challenging course for major professional championships. Every hole is highly strategic yet eminently playable.
